Save the date! The Eighth Annual Calgary Invitational Spelling Bee is set to take place on Saturday, June 6, 2020.

The 2019 Calgary Invitational Elementary Spelling Bee at Webber Academy was a huge success! Congratulations to all of the participants, parents, organizers, and volunteers who continue to make this annual event a wonderful success. Over 70 students representing more than 25 elementary schools competed in the fun and challenging spelling bee. A 60-minute highlight show will air on CTV Calgary and CTV 2 Alberta.

Division 1 (Grades 1-3):

1st - Qinrong Valeria Zhao, Rundle College Primary
2nd - Amelie Deis, Webber Academy
3rd - Darah Akpan, Master’s Academy & College

Division 2 (Grades 4-6):

1st - Omar Wissam Charanek, Almadina Charter Academy
2nd - Garrett Smith, Rundle College Elementary
3rd - Chelsea Wang, Renert School

There are two divisions of the Spelling Bee. Division 1 is for children in Grades 1-3. Division 2 is for children Grades 4-6.

If your school is hosting a qualifying Spelling Bee, your child must qualify through that competition for you to register your child in the Calgary Invitational Spelling Bee. If your child's school is not hosting a qualifying Spelling Bee, you may register your child at any time. There is a maximum of 3 children per school in each Division.

Please Note: You will be required to sign a release form consenting to your child being photographed, filmed, and/or interviewed in connection with his/her participation in the Spelling Bee.

The event will be held at the Webber Academy Performing Arts Centre.
