Junior Kindergarten Admissions

Our Junior Kindergarten (JK) classes run Monday to Friday, 8:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., throughout the regular school year. The JK programme is for children turning 4 years old prior to December 31st of the year they will be enrolled in school. Children participate in play-based learning activities which develop their early literacy and numeracy skills and help foster social development. In addition, our JK students benefit from separate classes in Music, Physical Education and Spanish.

No formal testing is completed for our youngest applicants; however, families who have submitted completed applications will be invited to attend an interview with the Director of Admissions. JK applicants will also be invited to attend a 'play workshop'. Teachers and administration will be present during the workshop to make observations and determine an applicant’s readiness for our JK programme. Attributes such as behaviour, language development, willingness to join others at play, participation in activities and social interaction are taken into consideration when making placement decisions.

For applicants to the 2019-20 JK programme, interviews and class visits will take place from late-October to early December 2018. We therefore recommend that applications are submitted by November 15th, 2018.  Spaces are limited and the date of application is considered, as long as your child meets our admissions criterion. Most decisions on an application are made within two to three days of the completion of the class visit.

Children who will not turn 4 before December 31st must apply for the following school year.

Senior Kindergarten Admissions

Webber Academy has three, full-day, classes of Senior Kindergarten (SK), and is open to candidates turning 5 years old prior to December 31st of the year they will be enrolled in school. These classes run Monday to Friday, 8:20 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We have good availability of placements in our SK program.

Applicant families will initially be invited to attend and interview with the Director of Admissions. Following this the children will be invited to the school to complete an assessment pack (with a focus on Math and English skills), and to attend a class visit. The admissions process for SK will commence in late 2018, and run through to Spring 2019. Most decisions on an application are made within two to three days of the completion of the class visit.
