Webber Academy is pleased to offer a friendly and informative admissions process for interested students and parents. Families are encouraged to read through the information provided on this website and attend an Information Evening or School Tour to learn about our school and the programmes offered.

Step One: Application

Please print and fill out the application form below and submit it to the school along with the following:

  • A non-refundable application fee of $100.00
  • A copy of your child’s birth certificate
  • A copy of your child's passport
  • A small photograph of your child
  • A copy of your child’s most recent report card (not required for Jr. and Sr. Kindergarten applicants)
  • If available, copy of Educational Testing Results (i.e. CCAT, IOWA, NWEA, STAAR, WIAT, WISC etc...) Applicants with current educational testing results may be granted early admission as this eliminates the need to set up admission testing.

Additional documents for non-Canadian citizens.

  • A copy of your child's permanent residence card
  • or a copy of the parent's work permit

A letter will be sent via email to acknowledge receipt of your application.

Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Step Two: Admissions Testing

Once an application is submitted; the student is placed on the Applicant List and the Director of Admissions will determine whether the applicant qualifies to move forward with admission testing and assessment. Families seeking admission to our four and five year old programmes should refer to the section 'Junior and Senior Kindergarten Admissions' for more information.

Admissions testing / assessment is used for all students applying to Senior Kindergarten to Grade 12. The testing we use is as follows:

  • SK applicants will complete an activity pack, usually on the day of the familiy interview, or the child's class visit.
  • Grade 1-5 grade 5 applicants will complete one of our in-house assessment pack, which focuses on skills and ability in English and Math. This test can be taken at Webber or can be sent to an applicants current school for administration.
  • Grades 6-12 applicants are required to write the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT). To register for the SSAT please visit www.ssat.org

Test information and specific dates can be found under the ‘Admission Testing’ section on our website.

*Submission of recent educational testing by a registered psychologist may be accepted in place of our admission tests.

Step Three: Classroom Visits

Local candidates who score within the expected admission guidelines may then be invited to spend a half-day or full day visiting the classroom at Webber Academy. This visit provides the child with an opportunity to learn about our school and meet other students. As well, this visit allows our teaching staff an opportunity to spend time with the candidate and determine whether the school is a good fit for the student’s needs and interests.

Distance / international applicants who are unable to attend a classroom visit will be expected to arrange for our Confidential School Report to be completed by their current teacher and/or principal.

Step Four: Acceptance

Once all documentation is complete, the Admissions team will review the application. Admissions decisions are made with the best interests of the student in mind and are based on a combination of the application, report card marks, entrance test scores, interviews, and teacher recommendations. It is our policy to advise prospective families of acceptance or non-acceptance as quickly as possible. An email notifying you of our decision is generally sent within two weeks.

Qualified applicants for whom there are no positions available will be placed in a waiting pool. If a vacancy for your child arises, we will contact you immediately. If no placements become available within the school year, we will defer your application to the following school year at your request.
